Fiesch and Eggishorn

I really, really wanted to see the Aletsch Glacier so we travelled down to the Valais area of Switzerland and stayed at a village called Fiesch. I travelled by cable car to the top of Eggishorn, a mountain with the most spectacular views of the glacier, while Glenn, Kat and Gemma hiked to the glacier. At the top there is a small cafe and a mountain hut with facilites so I was very happy. We all had a great day.

Fog at the top of the pass as we travelled to Valais.

View from the cable car. Glenn, Kat and Gemma walking to the glacier.

  1. Looks like you're having a great trip so far. Another good trip in Switzerland is to take the rack railway from Wengen up to the Jungfraujoch, highest station in europe, and fantastic scenery! We stayed a week in Wengen in 1992 and I took the train up to see the Eiger glacier etc, while the others were skiing. Enjoy!
