Getting organised

We're ready to fly tomorrow.

The weather forecast for Zurich on Thursday is 33! Three weeks of summer will be a nice break from this year's cold winter and I'm hoping for some sunny days so I can see some mountains.

I've been doing my homework, checking for places we should visit, and finding webpages like 'Best Medieval Villages in Switzerland' and "Most beautiful Villages in France'.

And I got to thinking. What turns up when potential tourists do their homework before visiting Australia?

So I googled and found 'Top 10 Australian Outback Towns to Visit'. Their list is Birdsville, Broken Hill, Longreach, Kalgoorlie, Coober Pedy, Alice Springs, Coonabarabran, Mt Isa, Melrose (SA) and Kunanurra. What do you think? Or, 'Best Small Towns and Villages'. Their list is Central Tilba, Broken Hill, Port Douglas, Mission Beach, Broome, Kalgoorlie, Goolwa, Coober Pedy and Launceston. Or, 'Australia's Best Beach Towns. Their list is Torquay, Port Macquarie, Mooloolaba, Kingscliff, 1770, Sorrento, Killcare, Phillip Island, Airlie Beach and Noosa. Actually, I'm just a bit offended. Victoria hardly gets a look in and we have so many great little towns. (And Phillip Island isn't a town!)

Enough. I have to go see the best medieval villages in France and Switzerland. And the odd mountain or two. My camera's batteries are charged.

  1. A fortnight ago we just visited some very pretty villages in France. Yvoire on the shore of Lac Leman, Colmar Equisheim and Riquewihr in Alsace region. Can recommend these three.

  2. I just got home this morning after 8 weeks away - need to indulge in some armchair travel.
